Today is one of those days that I have no great desire to talk about technology, not business or internet, in fact I think I have taken the morning and I'm a bit relaxed in the office quietly reading a book. Come and field and beach ... unusual for me to be so idle, but occasionally necessary. Today I came especially well
He had wanted to talk with Guillermo Muñoz Vera long time and I think this morning so relaxed (finally) time to do it. Guillermo in a Chilean painter who lives in Spain, specifically Madrid outside Chinchon. It is one of the greatest realist painters of our time, with a highly developed and similar to Claudio Bravo , to compare him is inevitable. Realism is not fashionable, I love that you're going to do one sometimes goes against the grain. Some of the pictures of Muñoz Vera relaxes me especially. I have not even his work and took several years saying that "this year I buy something" but I have not found the wanted from the table. Only it would be a box of light much interpretation.
William founded ARAUCO (Art and Contemporary Authors) years ago in front of his house in Chinchon, ARACUO Foundation is an academy of artists and a beautiful project that I just put a paste, many of the artists out there, working with a very technical, but the compositions and ideas seem to want to be all Muñoz Vera. Some years ago I had the opportunity to spend the evening at home with William. Which was his dealer Carmen Bonel, knew he wanted me to meet him and see him. His house (spectacular with breathtaking ancient caves below) and I could watch him work. At that time preparing a Ansorena Exhibition at the Gallery and had just returned from a trip to Chilean glaciers. I was very surprised his age and addiction to digital, as well as the way they work, which is making digital photos with photoshop which include images and then working on them and using them as model paints. I leave here some pictures of William, who likes recommend you shop around Gallery Virtual Artelibre to see the rest of his work:

These days I have received several emails reminding me that I promised to talk about art 1 time per week and that was not fulfilling. A good American friend, visiting Spain and CEO of a major multinational telecommunications company, and also an art lover, familiar with this story urged me to tell it.
True, this return to the frenetic activity after the summer has not left me much time, and wanted to return one post a week on painting especially. It relaxes me and write some paint on both days of work, I want to force me to a place that, I think for me is healthy
I especially like the pop art, frankly, but if I have a soft spot for a pop artist, Antonio de Felipe . Antonio is an original Valencian painter settled that lives between Madrid and his native Valencia, and maintains studios (worth view) in both cities. It comes from the world of advertising, is a very creative person and valuing your work means from the point of view of advertising creativity. Has also not whether grace or disgrace, being arguably the country's most pirated artist ( not only pirated movies and mp3, art also otherwise). Images characteristic picture of Audrey Hepburn from the Antonio hacked, copied and reproduced in magazines, paintings, t-shirts, postcards and posters dozens of companies (many of them, complained one day) without permission or authorization. His prints are sold like hotcakes, and painted on canvas original premium prices (which are also public and are on their website)
But today tell the story of the painting "The Dibus of Avignon" I already told on another occasion in Art Spain , our art blog. This big box is a great tribute to pop the "Demoiselles d'Avignon" of such a Picasso.
The story goes back to 2002. In that year contacted the Castellví Jose Maria Gallery , Barcelona, representing Antonio being interested in his work. I received several Polaroid photographs by mail within a few days and one of them was "The Dibus of Avignon". I jumped like a spring to see the picture, if I wanted to have some pop-art, had to be that picture!. Loved. Remember back then I talked and talked to the gallery and to my regret we do not reach an agreement economic. At that moment I would not know, but I never forgot "my" picture. Years passed and I was more difficult than usual
(I repeat pop art is not mine) see pop works, always compared with that picture. The shabby-polaroid picture was still in a drawer in my office. Their retention years. One day, in early 2007, writing a small post in ArteSpain commented that experience and I mentioned the box, surprisingly a few days I wrote himself Antonio de Felipe, fun and surprised and invited me to visit him in home study. I went there one evening, and Antonio, lovely home and showed me his studio work, fun and original (you can see photos on their website), and at one point, wanted to teach me something special. To my surprise, I was there in the box home. Been there, like waiting all these years.'m Among those who believe that you should not tempt fate or miss opportunities twice. I did not think, and although I took a lot more expensive than it could have cost me at the time (it had been years and the quotation of Antonio through the roof every year), I got the part. Leverage works in my new home for this box to leave a special place in my living room, the table measures about 2 x 2 meters and not easy to locate
! And since then is in my living room.
By the way, I have not pulled the old photo, Polaroid, who once sent me the gallery. Lovingly kept it on my desk, and seems part of the furniture and I think will continue for years rondándolo. And even between the eyes I have nothing to buy Antonio since then, this sculpture "The cow of Coca-Cola" has always amused me and I could also see at home. (Antonio: Guardamela that this is also going to come home, and I'm making a hole)

I love Eduardo Naranjo . I've always thought, although I understand that may sound outrageous to some, which is technically the best painter in the world, and his paintings, especially the period from 1978 to 1985 marked a before and after in Spanish realist painting. Really, what Eduardo is exceptional, whether you like or not like art, like it or not like painting, if you go through an exhibition in one of his works there you will stop to admire it. If you do not like the paint and do not know the path of Tapies, Chillida, Valdés, Barceló possibly not fix it in his works, but if you will stand in front of boxes Naranjo. Many years I had been collecting his work when I met him and invited me home for the first time. I remember I took the afternoon off and went to his house, which is very close to mine. We spent an enjoyable afternoon chatting in the studio annex to its superb house in La Moraleja, and he was half in shock to see that a person of my age would then have 25 or 26 years-follow so closely and know better their work, and was interested in spending with him that Friday evening of the hours I keep a good memory, we could see and talk about many things all afternoon, showed me his studio, home, memories, pictures, and I could see him paint. A real treat. He was painting a large format, a huge swell, with painting and art, the box was about 120 centimeters wide. Eduardo is so thorough, that works of this size are not only hard to find but are also much work for him that can only produce maybe 4 or 5 works of this caliber year. I was interested in knowing it was going to paint that picture, I was just sketching a huge blue sea and explained his idea in detail, and I said at least take even more than a month to complete. One sometimes has a hunch, and since that time even half-painted-yes, a bit surreal the situation, we agreed that the study leave his box a month later just to come to my house. And so it was, and here is since then and I enjoy it every day, together we agreed to call it "The Sea and Other Universes".
A year later, on my original box, Eduardo called me and made some pictures to make some lithographs, which I was thrilled. Nowadays even sold in some galleries such reproductions of the work. The first time I walked into the living room of his house I saw a painting he had seen a thousand times reproduced in books, but never seen in person: "Dreaming with Muses". This is a huge work (200x300cm!!) Where he worked more than two years!, Possibly more representative picture of his career. Never before had hit me a picture both in photography is almost impossible to appreciate the depth and quality of this work, it is very difficult to reproduce the detail of a painting of 3 meters wide and 2 meters high.
I read Monica Kreibohm in ArteSpain days ago Eduardo decided pick your home and give your picture more representative the largest contemporary art museum in Spain, the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofia (MNCARS ). It is a gesture not only immortalize his work, but also will make the whole world can enjoy it for centuries. For this picture, I know for a fact that several collectors, one of elos someone close to me, have come to offer Eduardo over a million Euros, even a prominent businessman from Zurich to Basel offer a blank check for put that figure, and Eduardo, not only has not sold, not only you have picked your salon (insist they are 3 feet wide and 2 meters high!
, But it has given us all. Tags: Art , Painting
This is my personal blog, and although it will be marked by new technologies and the Internet, I can not ignore my other passion, art, specifically contemporary painting and Spanish vanguards. Monica Leo Kreibohm in ArteSpain to be auctioned today a unique piece, which will mark a before and after in the painting in Spain. This is the painting "Madrid from Torres Blancas" (approx 150x244cm) Table created over 6 years, that auction room Christies , with an estimated price of output record for a living artist Spanish: between $ 3,000,000 and $ 4,000,000 since I do not know, but I have a feeling it will sell? crisis, what crisis?. From here I just want to show a desire to stay in Spain, government intervention in the auction and win it for the Reina Sofia Museum and the MACBA , which could allocate a preferred location for a piece like this.
Antonio Lopez is not only one of the greatest realist painters but personally I think will go down in history of the great painters and will be studied for centuries, with another great English contemporary artist, Lucian Freud , and will be remembered as the greatest realist painters the time. I always liked the work of Antonio, in fact I have a small piece I bought at an auction in Germany for years. I remember a few days to do it, I got the feel of his daughter Mary, and by one of those accidents of fate a few days he was home of Antonio, with him, having breakfast in the kitchen near where I lived then in Pinar de Chamartín in Madrid.'s amazing to see how far a person can be "normal" and very flat, and the extent to which live in isolation of large numbers at work everyday, a guy who is one of the great myths of the history of painting in Spain and will be remembered for his work in the coming centuries, something that only 2-3 living Spanish artists can do. I remember in the last edition of the congress Domain Forum , where I had the pleasure of participating with Carlos Blanco and Marcos Sainz at a round table, I asked if you had 10 million euros if the invest in generic domains. This morning I changed my answer mentally, if I did, I'd love to buy from Antonio with some of that money a piece like this, and what for many may be a snob and be frowned upon (such as paying a higher figures artwork), I frankly think in this case is not only a good investment, but also enjoy more than have in front of me, in my house every day a work like this. Update: It has sold 1.74 million Euros, consecrating Antonio Lopez as the Most Valuable Spanish painter alive. Tags: Art , Painting
