With the annual target covered with something we are taking more relaxed the last 2 months of the year in the network of Entertainment Networks.
I spent this morning the advancement of the stats and figure annual growth. The truth is that this month the pace has continued steady but lower percentage that last month, with growth of just over 5%, which leaves us at 3,228,000 unique users per month and we have reached the 9,692,000 page views.
Taking stock of the year, we have had an even stronger growth of the schedule, going from 1.3 million unique users to 3.28 million while waiting for data from December, which I hope will leave us on the threshold of 3.4 or 3 , 5 million unique users. The objective is to close 2009, in a year, with nearly 6 million unique users, double billing and I think 2008 is going to be difficult but we will try.
Since Ocio.net in December, we want to focus on organizing a number of ideas and changes that we have for 2009, one will be very interesting and novel a soprenderá and more than one, but I still can not advance any of that. It will come, but the truth is that we have opened too many fronts and at times it seems that we are going slower than I'd like to.
I like to comment on developments in leisure Networks because our company is young and I have invested much time and money on it, and I believe in its future. At the end of 2008 my idea is to break away a bit from day to day and to delegate something more in my team and concentrate on new projects to prepare.
Soon our network of blogs will grow sideways and I will have more interesting things to announce, not the incorporation of new blogs, but new approaches and possibly sub-2 releasing on the market for microcontenidos to accompany it with other very different approaches and entry of new partners and new approaches within them.
Commenting on the data ahead of September for the first time I was doubly pleased, firstly because the growth was still very broad and sustained, and secondly because these almost 2 years of holding losses on a monthly level staff were beginning to give fruit and in September we had our first operating profit.
Today I can announce that as we came to work those benefits go up by 100% compared to September on the basis of the agreements in the medium and long term that we have signed with several companies as well as the growth of our traffic and advertising billing.
Frankly had no economic purpose in 2008, in fact, the initial approach was to continue growing even if it were not sustained so as to benefit and longer rentabilizaríamos in 2009 .... That approach was changed in December when they thought the economy was going to require modifying the original idea of a more defensive.
As if that was aimed in terms of unique users, which for me is the most important factor, far more than the benefits, and much more than page views. The user is everything.
Today I can announce that this month we have reached 3,000,000 unique users per month in the network of blogs. Specifically, we ended the month according to internal data we handle the first day of each month at 3,057,022 unique users per month (+11.94% over the past month) and 9,144,898 (+11.76 respect to last month) . I am afraid that Nielsen / ONA, which will soon draw data, not even collect the 3 million users by the small differential, and because we use 2 blogs is not even included in the panel (including this month) and there is possibly formalize 3 million next month.
Many or few? Well, I must say that when July 1 reached 2,000,000 users did not think that in 3 months the pace of growth would enable us to reach this figure so quickly, in fact, the goal seemed ambitious to December 2008 (in my team some what they believed impossible. Well actually I think nobody thought very possible ).
The reality is that in 1 year and 10 months we have gathered 3,000,000 people around the blogs of Leisure, and the agencies, advertisers, partners, investors and even some in the media with business interests on the Internet and see it begin to pay much more attention, but much work remains to be done and we must greatly improve some of our publications in its editorial quality and better position. We will also have 2 strong challenges in the coming months working to launch 2 new projects from Entertainment Networks.
In principle remain the targets for 2009 already commented on occasion of 6,000,000 users and 15,000,000 million page views, but it is possible and we have already raised to think in order to revise them upward next month if we continue with this pace of growth, I think that is healthy and that the goal should be ambitious in order to motivate us more.
When in January 2007 we created the network of blogs Entertainment Networks, expected to give a comprehensive growth. I have always been an optimist, and that's partly because I feel compelled to mark targets to be very high, almost unattainable.
In the month of July, with 2.2 million unique visitors and commented that almost met the target of 2.5 million at year end and that I had to try that were 3, with the summer ahead, that was a handicap. In the month of August, grew moderately, possibly due to seasonality and reach the 2.3 million unique users. I can now announce that according to preliminary data that I sent in September we have reached the figure of 2.7 million unique users, with strong monthly growth of more than 400,000, better than expected this month, and that puts us on target finish 2008 at 3 million users much closer.
At the level of advertising revenue and the figure of page views is what really relevant, since cobras for this, but on a personal level, I am always interested me much more data from users only. I think that was the key measures the force that can have a network. Yet this month we have grown by about 500,000 page views reaching nearly to 8.2 million.
Blogs have very few pages viewed per person, it is a normal ratio of 1.x-2.x-per-view, it is well on his horizontal format and is markedly different from that data pageviews of such social networks, with ratios up to 60-80 page views per session.
It is noteworthy that our network is composed of 30 blogs, 28 of them own development and 2 acquired, we have no blog Land, are all products of its own.
The purpose of trafficking face to 2009 will be much more ambitious, I do not know if we can achieve this, but the idea is if we can finish 2008 in the above figures to double size by 2009 and to close the year with 6 million users and nearly 15 million pages views. We'll see if we made it.
A company-wide goal to increase the profitability for next year is much higher, there are a lot of work to play in that field and in fact this month we have closed 3 new sponsorships with companies, 2 year and a half-yearly, and we want Further work in this direction to achieve significant long-term agreements that allow us to grow so long. We are also evaluating the possibility of entry to new investors in the company's stock, which currently is 100% owned mine, to cover new growth needs that make us able to engage targets even more ambitious in 2009.
I want to thank the team of bloggers and publishers for their work. Every time we have an editorial team more compact and stable this month because I want to assess the possibility of converting some bloggers in publishers, with the aim of promoting, become more involved in the network and reward their dedication.
No doubt the traffic data of the network of blogs Leisure have been the best news of last week.
The first day of each month soil buried in a Maremagnun figures and interpretations that are sometimes successful and sometimes not on the data from hearing from our network of blogs.
As I have commented on occasion, always working with data from our own servers, as data from our measurement of Nielsen Netratings and the certification of OJD take something even more in coming.
Usually I receive a monthly spreadsheet with details of each site, its evolution and to ask some data to analyze, among them evaluate the number of post differential, number of comments, views, users, trend,% of traffic links, % Of traffic from other reference sites, and direct traffic typein%, Ips access by country, no Graph weekly cyclical numbers, the percentage of search engines from bounce. Since I have requested this month in addition to Diego Servent, Coordinator of the Network of blogs Entertainment Networks for the analysis to include some other data, we have a clear and should be taken as one more variable for measuring changes month by month of publication web; the Mean Time Connection 2-3, and other variables which I want to go a little soaking several tests we are doing these days and I'm not even sure of its significance.
This month of August feared in some ways a drop in traffic caused by our largest percentage of visits from Spain and the holidays, though I can finally announce an interesting growth of the network, which brings us to 2,334,000 unique users (with growth almost 6%) and 7,666,000 page views (with a growth of 9%) as seen in this graph.
Despite being some aggressive growth numbers for the month of August, I should also mention that in part to the increase of having joined a new blog to the network, todowow.com purchased for about a month and a few days. Without this new release, growth would have been equally positive, but to a lesser extent.
That is to be in August should be happy, but not what I'm in great measure: expecting more, and we have to work much more with several blogs on everything that perhaps for some seasonability, be-urchin-traffic this month has lost a Traffic was not expecting that. On the other side more positive the new publications as Celiacs, environmentalism, olive oil, drink etc, with only a few months of life stages and will cover their growing exponentially and that is also very important, although they are still ahead for months have more relevant data.
These days, despite being on vacation, like every beginning of the month I'm taking stock of the traffic data and results for the month of July, our Network Blogs Entertainment Networks
July is not a particularly interesting months in terms of traffic, worse, will obviously be in August, where there could be a setback for traffic-recoverable in September.
I Diego has facilitated our monthly summary where I see our network, created 1 year and 8 months has grown to 2,202,000 unique users per month and 7,130,000 page views. These figures represent a growth of unique users for the previous month's 7% and curiously a much lower growth of page views of 1.43% that I am studying it in detail.
The statistics are becoming more interpretable techniques in depth, and count unique users and page views only is the ABC of the alphabet. One of the key for me at present when assessing the quality of a blog is the TMC (Mean Time Connection) and when I analyze the stats with our editor-in-chief Monica Kreibohm, and the Coordinator of the Network Servent Diego. I think we have a fairly high TMC and above all, month after month we scratched TMC more to readers, which means some part they like what they read and what actually read, and do not start leaving. Similarly, the TMC is one of the values that have won more weight in the algorithm of Google in recent times for positioning.
By the way, my internal goal marked the beginning of the year (and some call me crazy) was able to reach the 2,500,000 unique users and hope / believe that we will achieve this comfortably, and hopefully we will be close to reaching 3,000,000 users Only at the end of the year. In December 2007 we had 1,184,000 users. I would like here to encourage my team in that direction, are doing a terrific job, and we must continue to improve in the same direction. A Diego and Monica congratulations on the job, congratulations to all the bloggers for the effort and results, and our agency Addoor with Caesar and Paula in the lead, thanks for the effort and work.
I can also bring forward that since my days of vacation in El Puerto de Santa Maria (eh! Will end soon and muyyyy):-D I've successfully closed some of the steps he had accumulated for the summer and have gained 2 blogs to communicate soon, and that will reinforce important niche for us in our public transport as well as having synergies with other blogs in our network. So far only had acquired an external blog: seriesblog.es. Both incorporate its current editorial team (and this is usually a very important point for me) and I can talk more in detail of these operations next week.
We're still awaiting closure of 2 other blogs and a shopping portal that we are looking more and that, if as seems to come to fruition, we may announce in September.
Certainly we have since last month with an incidence data from Nielsen we are trying to solve. We have a problem coding in Nielsen possibly giving us less and only 300,000 users 6,200,000 page views. I want to thank Ana Cristina and Nielsen Netratings fix the interest in publishing and in order to avoid the incidence suspicions.
Updated August 14: Nielsen Netratings has completed the updating of data, has reviewed and resolved the error and give us 7,010,286 page views and 2,023,741 unique users. Thanks to solve by Nielsen
Kike know from many many years ago, and yesterday gave me joy, after a long time without seeing at least a couple of years-eat with him at a restaurant in La Moraleja in Madrid. Genie appears and nobody can stop looking with the corner of the eye he does. I met him when I was 16 or 17 years and since that time, in various sectors within the Internet, nobody can deny that it has been one of the people who best know monetize the network.
Enrique is placed on the Internet a peculiar character. Will remember that 1 year and a half or maybe 2 years and who called me and told me about what is now his current project, the social network Wamba. Yesterday we discussed several projects that have in mind, and one of mine and we will be seeing what points we encounter between the two.
On Wamba, I must admit that it is not too encouraging, it is more than I thought it was really difficult that might get some results as relevant social network traffic.
At this time I have been following its development, chatting with him occasionally by phone and MSN and I must admit that some things have surprised me very positively.
First Enrique has evolved with Wamba. The site was born with some mistakes, structural concept, trying to cover too, with programming flaws and marked by a lack of traffic. Even as I remember joking with him every time I went to see him and that he saw 10 pictures of 5 were "Enrique on the beach, on a boat Enrique, Enrique with a drink ... "Has spent much of that time and there has been a huge trend that nobody can deny.
Wamba has purchased 2 webs, one Spanish and one in Latin America of the highest traffic and just integrate a very intelligent, which causes that currently has a greater volume of unique visitors to other sites that are more recognized for it as Sonic , A Latino, or Tuenti, level Spanish. I estimate that these integrations Wamba closed after the month with 8 or 9 million unique users in Nielsen. Never before have I seen something like this in just 2 years of work, and a lot of controversy or criticism it has attracted, quite frankly, I'd love to have achieved those 9 million users in 2 years myself, to take off his hat.
I am sure we will soon have a corporate press release with Wamba and I am not surprised that Kike and his investor Morten Lund will come to sell all or part of the company. Certainly not in 1000 million euros as suggested by Morten (dammit, what people write barbarities), but if the figures possibly both be happy and be grown from an interesting revenue.
I think it is true that several controversial purchase and type of content that were in vagos.es but always encouraged him to close that operation. He bought the site, users migrated, it has a very positive and has been removing the disputed content. It looks to me a clever and round out your project, in which the key is traffic. Now the challenge will be the monetization.
I also have our draft Yes.fm some synergy ... do not forget that Wamba is an online music radio, wamba.fm and I believe that we are not going to cost a lot of power found in that aspect, after opening at Yes.fm the next month of September a point of collaboration.
Enrique, who has a particular sense of humor, sends me this video in which he has had the courage and little sense of the ridiculous (dammit, Enrique, what laughter, I could not) from recorded in a peculiar version of Rodolfo Chiquilicuatre (or as hell is said). Those who know strongly recommend you see it:
No one can deny the boys from Google Labs, the large number of projects that are capable of taking the time and the developments that have the potential to offer us. But there are times that quite frankly I wonder, but for what? ... I was starting to bother about how the control unit and that Google, on the basis of these and other tools and programs, or even your Analytics, Adsense, or your own search engine exerts on me and on my company. I feel the more tests and also perform certain certainties (one day the count in detail) that this company knows all too dependent every day more of it too and they act accordingly on us.
Bothers me greatly that this tool is available to almost everyone ... Google will be measured and data, with varying degrees of success all the sites of the world .... Except El Pais says the data from their own sites as rightly stated Blas García Martin recently. Google will give your details, but not those of his service as the Finder, Picasa, You Tube or Orkut, because as we explained in an official communique "Our policy is not to provide clues about our internal finances, and we decided not to publish figures for Google in accordance with this policy. "In other words, its policy is to give information or do not want yours and its rivals, but not their own, they are above good and evil, do not have any intention to lead by example and This is a universal service for all except for them, which are sent.
I am a fan of Google since it was created, in fact one of the first accounts of Adsense who arrived in Spain gave us a direct and personal Kristen Jeppssop from the headquarters of Google Inc in December 2003, the prehistory of this program advertising. Even the store and use. Do not ask me why very well, but at the time, I hated that he had tomadura the hair of the pay-per-click campaigns, do not hesitate even a moment and began to work together. And we are delighted to have done, but things do not work as well and this will be the subject for another post.
I think you'll see from Google that it has become too big and has too many vested interests at all. Some of us knew and worked closely in the years 2003-2005 with another company, much more dynamic, much more exciting and much less ambitious than this. Looking back now, and I laugh when I recall with some nostalgia at the end of the 90s with many taking the eagerness and monopolistic dominance of Microsoft (Mocosoft) in Spain and to a lesser extent Telefonica (Timofonica). That time, today, versus where we were coming over, these companies are almost sisters of charity, because if you own a business, using AdSense, Analytics and receive traffic on a major% of the browser, maybe these now you start to realize that you are not so independent, but you like it or not, maybe without realizing you're an employee of a company based in mountain View, California. Can you help, but if you up have imposed their corporate email @ Gmail!
I take this opportunity to publish data from hearing Entertainment Networks, our network of commercial blogs. I would be running the first day of each month, to enable'll see an evolution.
The network of blogs Entertainment Networks was created 1 year and 6 months, in January 2007 and the truth is that it is a slow and hard work, but little by little we are getting results at the level of revenue and traffic.
I am a person very critical with myself and in general with the things we do, and that is why the 28 thematic blogs that make up the network believe that there are only 4-5 that already have a clear relevance within its sector. Most are still very new and emerging publications, which must work much harder and better the writing, theme selection, line style, communication content and finally the promotion and strategic alliances within their niche sector. It is logical and we are going slowly because many carry very little time online (for example, last month opened 5 new blogs out of 28 total).
Even so, and we started to have relevant data at network level, closing the month of June with 2,048,531 unique users (2,434,000 visits) and 7,001,118 page views. These results represent an increase of 5.1% in the number of unique users and 11% in page views last month.
Those who are not necessarily have more traffic, but I am especially pleased to work motorspain.com (210,000 unique users), cocina.org (164,000 unique users), nutrition (126,000 unique visitors) as well as the percentage growth of some other blogs (*).
At the level of positioning are seeing that to put a blog in point we want, and that obviously does not always succeed, we are taking the order of 9-12 months depending on the subject, is a slow, but we hope that within 10 -- 12 months we've collected everything that we sow, and that we can to reduce development times and advocacy with the experience we are accumulating internally, but we still have much work to do.
Before commenting that I am very critical in-house with our work, there are many networks of blogs at present, many of them created in the last months of the year. We are still in a somewhat embryonic stage, trying to learn the job and seeing some well-established networks that do their homework very well (a quality I like especially Weblogs SL, hypertext, BlogsFarm, Media and Networks, Tecnoblogs and Entertainment Media) , And we expect to grow aggressively in a traffic data such as billing by the end of the year.
As a novelty can anticipate that this month Entertainment Networks SL moves into a new office of 200 square meters at the Crystal Building, in San Sebastian de los Reyes (we are already in development works), on the outskirts of Madrid in front of the headquarters of Antena3 TV.
And also another important development, establishment and incorporation of the company immediately to an own sales force, headed by our new Chief Commercial Officer, Alberto Vadillo Gutierrez, who is now forming a sales team of 3 people to be able to sell and exploit new sponsorships and agreements.
(*) Data from Nielsen Netratings and ONA did not even have come out and take even a few days, usually have a margin of difference with our own 2-3%, which this month will be increased by a bug in the implementation of 2 domains main impact that Nielsen Netratings communicate properly.
I was particularly curious to see how there are still some big publishers, monstrous dinosaur that not only do not see the Internet as a logical and necessary, but also refuse to believe that they are "things about jovencillos rare, almost without motion or benefit."
I bet that many of these publishers will take a 180 degree turn in the coming years and will have to buy another company. Com content, or adapt themselves to the media.
In Spain there are at least 3 dozen publishers of magazines and journals that publish thematic more than 10 different headers within their group. The evolution of these essays and editorial that effort, by a logic future is none other than the Internet, and more specifically the blog format.
The USA medium and many publishers are positioning buying online publications and changing their structures into an essay. Com.
The fact is that while this is happening (many know it but still hold the rate, others do not even pose), is a surreal cases in the structures of these companies, in the middle and senior positions, they do not understand or even cling not to have to do it.
I am a manager of a major publishing company Catalan. They have a publication of gastronomy and chatted about the possibility of exchanges with our advertising blog cooking, in principle, we are open to all possibilities and we feel able to cooperate and give us interesting to know their offline readers, like they could advertise to take with our online presence. Sounds reasonable, we understand perfectly and there is good cheer. In addition we were eating in the near future.
