Sex, lies and video trailers (or room in Rome)
Yesterday was a strange afternoon. Occasionally go well, we're going to do.
I do not care too nicely supported the film world, yet we have a theme blog movie that focuses on this world (I do not know deeply, so what comes next are meaningless ramblings).
The cinema in Spain get "candy" from around the world of television, the State ... is a sad mirror where sometimes you look at the music industry, which envious public money that goes to the movies and cry " music (also) is culture "trying to lobby to force a similar situation in the receiving State daddy candy. At the time, they will.
A I do not like subsidies, I understand the argument that without them there would possibly Spanish cinema, and I pity that way. There are many jobs at stake and I fully understand that we must defend ourselves, but I can not help thinking, so malevolent and half smile on his face, that without such subsidies would have saved us enormous pathos of clunkers we paid indirectly gauge all . Generally Amenabar, Almodovar or directors are successful, we like more or less do not need.
In this regard, twitter ensued a discussion for months, which ended with a resounding and highly recommended post Gonzalo Martin I recommend reading in response to my disbelief to argue that movies like "Goya's Ghosts" costing 16 million Euros , and obtained a grant of 1 million Euros, then collect 1.5 million at the box office. Strange circumstance, losing more than 15 million Euros, Gonzalo clarified in his post
Without wishing to enter into this debate again, if you say that last year the first Spanish film subsidies exceeded the collection of films at the box office, and that one of every two euros invested in Spanish filmmaking is paid indirectly Contributors
Anyway, the issue I mess.
It seems that Internet filtering is a trailer of the latest film by Julio Medem called "Room in Rome" and we echoed that trailer on Kotaku 2 days ago. So far so normal, or almost, it always leaks of brackets ... Photos ghost car prototype engine are filtered out by the own brands to make noise in 90% of cases, rumors 2 months prior to a release from Apple is to heat the air leaking from there ... the leak is the first chapter of viral advertising, many times we have had offers to get some filtered by advertisers and communications agencies ... so a trailer stolen from a movie (do not think the GEO have entered the study or the mafia wants to sell the trailer on the black market), some obviously, intentionally or not the environment of the director, studio or producer.
So far so normal, delivered by filtration, and put no questions, it's all a game.
The movie is this:
The video had 17,000 viewings in a few hours this morning and more than 45,000 were normal in my opinion, the theme of erotic movie cutting with a very cute and well-known actress in Spain (Elena Anaya). I, who have seen the trailer, as at this hour all Quisqui, I doubt if this film will see lots of people, and also I hope it is a movie made with that intention, far from many other clunkers nonsense are made for securing the grant of the day knowing that no interest and no one is going to go see. Let it not a case like:
"Mia Sarah" Gustavo Adolfo Ron Zorzano. His collection was 256,557 euros and 598,048 aid. Did not exceed 330,000 euros at the box office
or
The animation 'Christopher beater "of Inigo Berasategui and Aitor Arregui. He raised 121,875 euros and received a subsidy of 448,434, ie more than triple his locker
This issue, this director, these actresses and ultimately you liked this movie more or less, but it's a real movie, made for making money and not to eat the extra help, and if only for that, I hope you do well to Julio Medem.
Yesterday at 1930 I received a few emails telling me my lawyer that does not qualify as threatening, and perhaps for that for peace of mind when you read this, I remember that were threatening
in which the producer's lawyers (good or so said to be in the email, I do not know), we are threatened with eternal fire if we were "harboring a trailer" (hell, I thought the trailer was made for that, moving and promote movies!), who had been "removed from the study of illegal" (hell, they protect your things GEO!), and that unless "we acted quickly, we would be liable under the Act 34/2002 of Services of the Information Society. "" What we were doing great damage to director, actress and producer "bla bla bla. Come on, that'll put us a package and we would be excommunicated. That kind.
Hell, the film was little, and fewer laws. Yet I wanted to call these kind gentlemen, to explain that accommodate a blended content "to link it! (it was on dailymotion and we using an embed code) and tell him, man, who was not wanted, to call Paris DailyMotion boys and removes it as well, we and others would leave many blogs to show, and an end, I explained that they were confusing "link" with "host" etc.. The conversation was brief, a few seconds because that is what one gets when you scream so nervous on the phone, and you are treated badly, in the end sends the other to hell and hang up the phone and says "it does not pull it off, and screw them." Literal.
I can not help seeing parallels with journalism in this case. Imagine working for a newspaper and not protected by law only have my source, but no one thinks to threaten me because someone has leaked anything. The "threats", if you can call it that are usually barter exchanges, and are usually white-collar, more subtle. On the Internet it happens, that lawyers themselves know deeply the law, industry and always believe that the other side are about 17 years acojonados Kid the first opportunity.
Curious situation. In the end, to the hour and a half after sending us to hell, I get an email quieter in which seemed to reason and I did not feel threatened by the eternal fire of law 34/2002-law a relief that I had in a not live, I decided and took off the trailer, which incidentally, is still in DailyMotion, come on, what I would link but just put a package again.
(Memorandum: "My lawyers are getting older ... very soft, they no longer amuse the trouble, I called it off ... as I've said today by email: I have to stop looking others recommend or guerrillas).
This leads to transcendent questions:
- If you make a trailer waiting to display. "Shit, because they take advantage and be seen?
- If you retire next month and invite you to the premiere, or put you and me, as I can remember a fish, but more than enough in this case, I remember the threats and tone of your lawyers. Why should I wear?. "Today I press and caused you and tomorrow we are buddies?
- A trailer like this, the issue obviously can not go on television with full or at least not in time of child protection, many chains will not accept it. Did not someone have thought that their success lies in the internet to have huge spread?
- Letters of the lawyers made us see that we were "damaging to the actresses. Man, if prejudicial to be in this movie, having not done right?
Conclusion. I hope the movie is a huge success for Julio Medem and its people, but I also hope to understand that certain forms, certain tones and certain attitudes of his lawyers, can alienate people who then helps spread the Kid-films of 17 years as before.
It is absurd and disrespectful to be one of anger and then threatening the next month "have to work" literally your communications agency.
I think in a different society. A phone call, 30 seconds and I'm sure the 2-3 blogs that we had since we understood, agreed to a request and we had coffee and us have done things together to promote the movie in weeks and maybe even us we missed a few laughs.
Now, it is possible Julio, your own people that you have set more difficult.
Luck anyway. To me, the trailer, I liked

The Last of the Mohicans
Last week Pais published a curious gallery under the title "Web 2.0 Uncertainties" signed by the professor of Audiovisual Communication at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, José María Álvarez Monzoncillo
The truth is that the text can not leave anyone indifferent and even cure many ghosts and because we are usually "abuse" and talk without too much information in Internet media, this time I wanted to respond
With his defense of the film and television in the past and its relationship to these industries, I do not think that matters to the good of Alvarez-Monzoncillo to him affectionately dubbed the "Last of the Mohicans" who misinform and create noise tend to disappear, despite the existing communication channels he can live isolated from the world, but even in dreams can speak ex cathedra as intended and influence, nay, what generally causes this type of analysis is laughter.

If you do not want to read the full text published by El Pais, at least here are some pearls of what was published, which in my opinion are nothing but a mixture of mental chaos, a complete lack of information and a desire to reinforce certain views even using misinformation and pulling it to the limit:
"
Web evolved naturally, optimizing searches. It does not only indexes web pages, but took into account the context and meaning (semantic web or Web 3.0). This logical evolution of the web due to its design and initial architecture: shared (university origin) and displacing and overlay (its military origin).
Thus, the two ways of doing opposed: virtual communities in front of people, blogs versus home pages, directories vs. tagging, RSS versus portals, page views versus cost per click, adversiting versus word of mouth, and so on. Netscape against Google, and as a result of the business logic, and now, of all against Google.
But the current economic crisis (global, financial and trust) has questioned the profitability of social networks so that probably we have the second bubble or two of the Internet era cybercrash
The over 1,200 million people online in social networks have failed even to YouTube, Facebook or Tuenti profitable. Only My Space has a profit model because it is tied to traffic on mobile phone
Ads on social networks are not attractive to large companies, it is not contextual advertising to appear with other videos, photos or links with conflicting messages, and in some cases negative for brand strategy
The Internet does not seem to be as participatory and active on the Internet
The millions of blogs are true monologues, without influence and without their opinions reach anyone.
The real revolution comes from the hand of social networks, but the most successful killer app on the Internet: P2P websites
Amateur society, the free culture of Lessing or the economics of free Andersson is an impossible dream that is becoming a new religion with excessive ideology. Contents financed solely by advertising and the self-generated non-profit users can not replace all the media and entertainment industries to drastically diminish its resources.
"
I will not comment on every paragraph, I think everyone should draw their own conclusions. It surprises me the mix of concepts and mental cocoa character, guru-apprentice medicine man-jinx of the second internet bubble.
In the art world is quite common for a site to get some young artists seeking to "kill the father." That is, come and say terrible things about the above already established and accepted by giving it exceeded all-clear, beaten by him. It seems that, relatively speaking this is what it purports to stand always with 2 subliminal messages back: "buddy, what has been done for free, has no future, you will soon pay for consuming information," and "Mentalizate: P2P killed Manolete ". In conclusion below and reinforcement of concepts of certain publishing lines.
As the Oracle striking manifestations of the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos I've had to respond in the same medium, El Pais, with a very brief letter to the editor-for reasons of space, published today, which I reproduce (in a more extensive), then :
I read with great interest the Tribune published on January 8 in The Country by Don Jose Maria Alvarez Monzoncillo under "Uncertainties of Web 2.0." In it, surprisingly, mentions that we are facing a second Internet bubble. In my opinion, nothing is further from the truth.
Firstly I am afraid to point out that some concepts are confused. The arrival of Web 2.0 in which the user gets the power of network management and its contents, has a clear social component but is not limited only to the emergence of social networks, but most especially that following the emergence of them are reoriented all content-are proof of that online newspapers, to incorporate social elements and put in the center of focus to the user who happens to be the central moving laterally to the content.
Web 2.0 is democracy and the maturity of the Internet, is the great generational shift has meant a real revolution and not only has to do with the culture of free, or with downloads as referred to in that forum, but that has to do with people, with the participation and sharing roles matching: transmitter and receiver, businesses and consumers, ultimately, people and people.
I do not think that the models of "the free" refer to those as unworkable 2.0 are intended to define the concepts, in fact, the developments of the main startup takes us to see clearly drawn fremium models, in which users receive on a free service that will gradually develop options Premium subscription payment. Are clear examples Spotify, or fashion startup, Twitter, which developed and implemented in short time subscription based premium features. Media around the world discuss the same, no doubt about the free model, but its evolution to a mixed model that allows certain options are under subscription.
Temo exploit the bubble on the bubble "that arguably builds up in the air Mr. Alvarez Monzoncillo Professor, citing inter alia to Facebook as an example of the failure of startups based on concepts 2.0 and social networks, of which indicates that have failed to be profitable. No more appropriate example than his, since for its quiet interior, I can tell you a few days ago Facebook announced that it earns more than it spends, that is, that this giant with 300 million potential customers has reached its break even point and developed its first profit earlier than expected, closing as declared by its founders to The Wall Street Journal the 2009 financial year above the most optimistic, with a turnover of nearly $ 500 million and a growth of 70% in the framework of a global economic crisis.

The time to make the leap

Given a stimulus each individual responds differently. We are going through a time when many people receive such bad news that are out of work. It may be paradoxical and not making the slightest claim to demagoguery and not get to say that is good news, but I do believe that although you tomártelo to the tremendous and sink, it can also accept rock bottom, and take a step forward and that be a real stimulus, an inflection point for growth.
The positive stimuli are pure pleasure, they can not be learned, lived and enjoyed. The negative stimuli are what make people grow within themselves, which can force you to seek what may never find you had raised : yourself.
We are also subject to stimulus and increasingly by technological advance. The barrier of distance, for example in rural areas has historically been a brake, the less interaction with third reduced the number of stimuli to which they respond. Today the physical location is no longer relevant thanks to technology and all forms of communication, everyone can respond to many more stimuli than 10 years ago and still respond to far less than the generation that relieve us, especially so-called native digital born in the 90s.
The situations will be good or bad happening cyclically in our lives.
If you are lucky enough curiously only positive things happen to you, I can not cheer for you, I think something is missing.
My personal ideal scenario is 75% of positive experiences and 25% negative, that are in the background I play on some facet of life, forced me to reflect, to rethink and often change my point of view about things. The 25% enriched me, is pure gasoline for me every day, or at least attempt to be so. The other 75%, and especially the proportion it has with the problems and negative experiences, makes me live in peace.
"Man without a smile does not open shop." At least so says a Chinese proverb that I like and I think we should try to apply it-I often do not get, a day to day. Faced with adversity one can take the path of complacency, surf and sink into your problem and suffering or face arrest and life with dignity. I think the second attempt worthwhile.
Meet people with problems, but real problems, not yours, and about dignity and joy and even the faces cold, it's worth. That's why, it's worth you know Randy Pausch, an example of dignity, positive response to stimuli and joie de vivre. An example that serves to reflect before thinking if one is sinking, depressed, or just face a problem , which by the way, perhaps after seeing this video, you realize it was just a slight little problem.

Your guru, tururú

Casualidad o no, no me equivoqué.
