Towards does Web 3.0?
It is difficult to theorize about how internet leads and new technologies. It is as exciting as a recurring theme and, unfortunately, nobody can predict how and technologies that are affecting our lives.
Web and user behavior in relation to new technologies have evolved over the last decade at an unprecedented rate. That frenetic pace, which sometimes seems unbearable, comes to question the standards a few years of being created, not only will remain this way, it is very likely to be increased in the next decade.
The impact on our lives in various concepts like social media or Web 2.0, the interpretation of information in key geolocalizada, the evolution of mobile devices or the semantic web, also known as Web 3.0, Internet create a new, more interactive and dynamic which does not involve the "personal computer" as a vehicle for connection, but always connected, by default.
The big jump has begun with full connectivity: mobile devices such as Blackberrys, iPhones and HTC are the pioneers in the evolution of the PC connection. In a few years, there will be no difference in performance between these devices and portable personal computer, or a simple video game console will come complete and permanent connectivity. Live integration of all this hardware into one, without regard to whether it reaches the phone, or portable games console.
But while all these changes are exciting, possibly the principal is the advent of the Semantic Web, also known as Web 3.0. The first change will be more than aesthetic, the advent of the web in 3 dimensions and not two as we know it now.
The concept of semantic web comes to us from one of the fathers of the WWW, the Nobel laureate Sir Timothy "Tim" John Berners - Lee. It is able to enhance communication through semantic metadata to bring added value to information, different and makes it more intelligent.
When a person is seeking information on the web, talk to a little machine precision, sometimes driving concepts now known as "keywords", without which neither the participant nor the destination server can interpret and act rationally to our needs. The concept of semantic web is based on giving machines the ability of reasoning and interpretation by semantic metadata, which may not only provide information housed in its database, but process it with us, interact with us and work in teams, evaluating and interpreting our needs.
The concept is based on the machine that we can interpret and work with us, and following that interpretation can provide different solutions according to what we need in every moment. The user should not be concerned to conduct searches and redefined to obtain most relevant results, but going to take appropriate decisions. The machine will select and interpret information according to our personal needs at every moment, even for each schedule or geographical location. The human and the machine will work in cooperation, by developing machines capable of interpreting multiple sources of information, while to offer options to the user in real time.
For example, today anyone can ask Google "What is the capital of Spain" and the result is perfectly "Madrid." With the semantic web can make and refine questions far more complex, intuitive and interpretative and not based on outdated concepts of simple keywords. Thus we can ask "in a Madrid hotel, 5 star, but is near retirement and has restaurant, arriving at work with a software that will process this information, offering alternatives to be valid and the only work of the human should be: information processing and decision making.
Not only get more complex queries, but also interpret information in an intelligent manner. For example, if I find an Italian restaurant, in a ratio to the round of 500 meters from my current location, by geolocation, the search engine will read and processed in an intelligent alternative in the area offers such a pizzeria in street next to them (despite the fact that this establishment is touted as "pizza" and not as "Italian Restaurant"), or to take another example, recommending a restaurant that despite being of Mediterranean cuisine is superb as spaghetti dish specially recommended in your letter. Reaching this point is complex and requires the interaction of machine and human knowledge, that the machine learning and assess the reactions of people, and ultimately of Artificial Intelligence.
Another big change, although in the longer term, the change that will come with the imposition of the voice as the main vehicle in communicating not only among users but with our devices.
Within a few years in our business structures will usually have a staff of semantic information from a technology-based artificial intelligence, which may make some of the work, interact with our team for this to make her own decisions, and other agents or machines of other organizations, creating an "artificial collective mind" that optimizes time and helps productivity and human decision making. We speak of a definitive answer machine, an expert in their subject (capable alone), to consult other interconnected machines in search of information and total replacement of old engines in a local search, intelligent and as the needs of each structure and / or organization. Perhaps we can reach that threshold in 10 years.
We are still at the dawn of Web 2.0, and define the medium and long-term Web 3.0 or Semantic Web, but we can go beyond talking about Web 4.0 and the total interconnect, a point, even very distant in The machines not only interact with the end user, but also between them will create an intelligent network interconnection between humans and machines, the total web we could define as:
3D Web + Web 3.0 (semantic web) + AI + Voice as a vehicle intercom = Web 4.0 (web total)

So if it does not reach the third world war before sending them all to the club and returning to the internet 0.5
Largely share this view and I would add a possible trend:
Among the changes under the "semantic web", I think that not only can we have a much more natural interaction with machines, as you described, but we'll see how the machines begin to produce content, "understand" the data that humans turning to "The Network" and create value on top of them.
I see in the not too distant future, machines in bars making recommendations based on analysis of our tastes, our recent meal, our restaurant critic, and so on.
And I do not mean very afnados search results, but first a rudimentary use of artificial intelligence to create new data based on the amount of related data. Come on, a touch of creativity in the machines, in the meantime Indexed data.
What do you think?
And the software is not mentioned here?. What about integration and transparency, increased between web and software?. Now many websites try to appear a "online" and many other applications a "web desktop", what about the merger of that point?.
Thanks for you article, a greeting!
This afternoon ... expanded my Internet of Things and augmented reality.
That sounds like Web 4.0, I have seen 20 years ago in the film Terminator ...
(hopefully not end well: P)
Excellent post, Alejandro. Just as a point, talking about "Web 3.0 + Artificial Intelligence," as two separate things, when the Semantic Web today is a subfield of Artificial Intelligence, where ontologies are being developed for labeling semantic reasoning but also engines computers to be able to answer questions and elaborate process information properly.
