We sell what we smoke and smoke (or as easily colonizable Spain)
A few months ago came with great deployment of Cuil, the search was intended to be an alternative to Google and that was held in Web 2.0 circles, especially in USA.
I remember when I saw him, I was lazy to comment, and a post I wrote something thug "A few laughs with Cuil" (which is already at that time was that there was no where to take it). The truth is that today trying to compete with Google is something ridiculous, first because your technology is always going to be worse, because you will not have half or resources, nor on the experience in data processing that Google has acquired .
CUIL (which curiously comes second in the Google search "CUIL") claimed that the search had been some Google engineers with this solution and its black background, defended the possibility of alternative and niche in the market. I am sure that after the huge buzz created a lot of people used it a while. But obviously, given the time and removes reasons:

I write all this before they FailBeta talk in a few months of Cuilo (all will) not by the project itself, but what is strange to see an effect of global viralidad. The graph of this web traffic, we see that the news is published on TechCrunch in a surprisingly enthusiastic, and the following 3-4 days is replicated with commentary on blogs worldwide.
TechCrunch does not just end users in Spain, perhaps only to heavy users and influence (which, incidentally, there are times that those who read him out without stopping to analyze and process information in order to have own conclusions), which makes it have a prescription with some power to hundreds of Spanish-language bloggers, who are prescribing to local users. It's a huge capillarity gives tremendous power to penetrate world where there are turning to explain that something is going to be interesting. In the medium term, if the product was a bluff, the bubble bursts.
That buzz global (unfortunately impossible to play in Spain or Latin America, a great pity because it would be good projects to boost local estallarían not like this) makes me think that we are a country easily colonize it. What comes from the USA with a good marketing behind not swallow up the transom, usually either when a user or a prescriber or to a level where investors do local players in that sector. So we will, we are the country with the highest penetration in the world of Google, 96%, the country where Coca Cola has a greater market share of soft drinks in the world ... when someone comes here from outside "dazzles" Nobody supports andalusia Local player in that market, it does not receive any support and usually goes away by itself, and it is true that it is difficult to compete but the fact remains that sometimes where Latino entrepreneurs are very consistent and we pay with some projects to ease External larger.
I believe that we have not understood a part of the game, if the ICT sector work we need to take market share, more or less, domestic products, which are investments that are betting and all that interests that go well. Many times I detect a certain bitterness to the success of projects Made in Spain, and a preference, often without much reflection, to the last project we try to bluff-meter, usually from the USA ... dejémoslo in the ears.
I am not talking about a certain nacionalismo.com or defend the things local so excessive, but if a certain self-protectionism, the Internet is a global market, in which all and we are working on ICT projects that interest us do not amount to total 100% because Spain is very difficult to build brands and projects worldwide with our fabric technology, and investments are handled here. We need some space for the local market.
A project in Spain will receive a brilliant investment of 100,000 euros or 200,000 a Business Angel, in Europe or the USA, although not as bright could receive 3 to 4 million without hitting a lot of trouble to expand internationally. Thus, it is difficult to compete when these people landed in Spain ... complicated, but even with support and ingenuity we can! But it will be even more difficult if we are failing to embrace what comes out as a model validated and make the case justito and sometimes underestimate the local project.
That's why I get so rabía when the 4-5 Spanish companies that if they can launch global brands and industry benchmark, still find out what's happening.

It is very common for large projects with a stick subidón Godparents for 1 month because of the buzz generated by these presonas and then make free fall.
One of the creators of Cuilo, Louis Monier, was ex-ex-Google and Altavista before (Fail).
If the project goes, OK, and go to the pool but dead by many sponsors, universities and television promotions, etc.. you do.
According to everything.
Perhaps it would have been more severe with the "gurus" of the Spanish network. It is disappointing the lack of level, just talking about what everybody else. If all listed Cuil because of Cuilo spoke, if at all Android therefore plays Android. I do not think that is exactly borreguismo is simply that some gurus are well-positioned but not a view to match their status. There is no one to speak evil of what we all speak well or speak well of what others speak ill.
I will tell you my experience. Recently developed a new 2.0 Spanish and such. It occurred to me to send you a summary of all these sites technology gurus explaining what was new and its functioning.
I do not mean that the project was the new Internet navel or having to speak well of him or even speak. But it is neither dignified response saying "your project is that we are not interested or not worth anything." While still running manidas news copied from Tech Crunch and successes of products which are guaranteed not to be painted more than a fashion one day.
The role of the guru in the Hispanic Internet deserves to be reviewed, it is people who do not dare to try something really, who does not dare to talk about what others have not spoken previously. I find that inexplicable.
@ arrobaplus, I very much agree with you ... sometimes I have spent the same.
Was this a joke of Cuilo not have anyone to design and usability? the truth is that if you or the light comes on and the results are bad, it was to be the precipice ...
I fully agree with the article, it is difficult to say ... The best thing is that just as there are Spanish companies that could launch global brands, there are Spanish companies that could launch a "Techcrunch Hispanic" and not look at anyone, Alejandro.
Record, and I say publicly, I read or Loogic OjoInternet and I think the first would go to what we are looking for a more ambitious approach for the coming years ...
@ Jorge Alonso, Jorge thanks, but I am a useless for that
I think it would not be the ideal time and especially since it would be unfair because I have economic interests in some companies. I think the ideal would be if Javier Loogic felt more support and also with an editor who will help
