The crisis as a lever very positive
I think we all know already that this is a new social-economic arena. That's an improvement, because some months ago, when some saw it come first on discussing whether or not there were crises and the second on whether or not to affect technology companies.
Well, we no longer have any doubt what we have on top, although none of us really knows evolve as the situation.
It is time to find out who is on balls, to paraphrase Warren Buffet in a sentence and know that I have read via Sixto Arias (who did not know personally, and last week at the First Tuesday Madrid caused me a pleasing impression) and Carlos Blanco: "When the tide is low, who is on balls." Well, the tide may go down as we see who he is or even with no shoes on.
I, who do not know if my character or conservative because I saw it coming since December, I have been very negative, and I worried a lot over the last few months by our company youngest, the Network of blogs Entertainment Networks.

I am particularly concerned about this society for several reasons, mainly young, the weak advertising market-based CPM with blogs and the high cost operating deficit and that it maintained with the objective to grow very quickly in size over grow so economically sustained.
That is why I started from December 2007 to raise awareness to our staff with managerial Diego, Monica and James at the head of which we could come over. A Diego and Monica are particularly insisted on his role as coordinator of the Network and Editor in Chief, and during all these months we have been cutting costs, optimizing performance and structure, prioritizing investments and discarding some planned, stopping unnecessary expenses, increase in traffic and revenue at a sustained pace and above all by balancing balances that were too negative for the future. I know that the two of them, now read these thoughts, they did so reluctantly and a bit surprised and did not see the overall situation as black as I was painting. Today, it is my personal conviction that if we had not taken all those steps for 9 months, possibly Entertainment Networks could not survive in the next year and I have no doubt that they are now much clearer than 9 months ago.
At several points in this journey the company has needed funding, and at that point that I have by conservative virtue-defect I have personally been covering it in order not to rely on bank financing or even give entry to new partners holding 100% of the company. Not only seems to have been a success but that makes the company today to sustainable although I personally have a liability to recover in the coming years. Have relied on a bank might have been in these coming months a critical point and unrecoverable.
In parallel I became interested in the topic and wanted to invest and trade support a small internal structure that allowed us not only depend on our agency, Addoor but able to close agreements for special actions, sponsorships and long-term partnership with companies that have synergies with our publications . This strategy has borne fruit very clearly and we have signed in September and October 3 agreements and 3 year agreements that guarantee us a semi-annual source of income added to our usual.
The other leg was necessary growth and optimization, with less structure, less monthly budget, which had exacerbated the ingenuity to continue growing in traffic and hence revenue. Since January we have achieved is precisely our month of September increased percentage and absolute growth.
And fear the crisis could have a negative effect, the apprehension and panic because the money is a coward. But I think that t also may have a tremendously positive effect that internally we have lived. My personal fear has been that we have worked harder at other times, taken precautions, heightened ingenuity, have been more aggressive, more demanding and have been able to develop a commercial network. Fear can also be a stimulus, without which we would have possibly faced much worse times to come. We can include fear of crisis in this case as a factor more than the pyramid of personal motivation applied to the company.

Entertainment Networks in numbers, all this is that since December, we have grown over 100% in audience from 1.3 to 2.73 million unique users, nearly 100% in page views from 4.5 to 8, 18 million per month, plus an over 120% in advertising revenue and sponsorships and revenue have increased fivefold atypical revenues that we had then.
In parallel we have lowered our costs and operating costs by 12% since January. Last month was the first month in which Entertainment Networks gave extensive benefits and we know that with our growth, current operating cost, controlling costs and the agreements signed within the next few months will double the profit of September in a sustained and consolidated .
We hope to have made the duties and get off when the tide carry all the swimsuit post.
Without the fear of crisis and the scene that seemed to come over would not have been possible, is the stimulus of adversity.

Quite frankly the crisis can be a disruptive as any other, it is that there must be experts in management with that sixth sense that you have demonstrated, although not understand what those around you.
Congratulations on that.
I think it's a very wise to take precautions provided in several ways parallel, in this case: reduced cost, growth and commercial development. In this way even something wrong, there are chances of success.
100% agree that today the bank financing could be a liability and that companies have to get used to not always use it.

Alejandro, has brought me a lot of reading this exeriencia. Amid the news of disaster and the "negativism" that reigns everywhere, is very pleasant encounter approaches and attitudes like yours. Congratulations.
Chapa!
Now to see them come ...
Thanks @ Paul L. Renaud and Softaltec, the truth is that I'm much more calm in what could be in those circumstances if we had not taken precautions.
@ Diego Ventosa, in the end the banks are going to be what it should be: a necessary evil, not the panacea
Alejandro, since I met you, I saw you were an amazing person in terms of management. We notice that your experience on the Internet is the most wise that exist. Have arrived where you are with a network of blogs from scratch, is impressive, and the ratios you comment amazing. Are doing things better than good.
@ Gonzalo Ruiz, Gonzalo Thank you, you know that the affection is mutual, that I made it that ye (you should be contentisimos) and exaggerate your words pretty! (I appreciate that the same or even more) but I will tell you that the "hunger sharpens the wit" and was giving me so afraid of all, to take decisions which, coincidentally have been successful ... we are going to have been a clear factor of luck in everything this.
Congratulations to the network of blogs and you, Alejandro. You're always negative of it is equally real. Let us (continue) among all our grain of positivity to be even better.
Perhaps nothing more than confirm that it is sometimes difficult to understand certain movements in the whole of its magnitude because it takes some know how accurate the prediction uncertain future in which we are at the financial level.
For the rest of the current happy that we have in Leisure, and that despite all its flaws, is the team right people to begin a path toward a stronger position secure, that is what I hope will happen.
And especially happy because the absolute financial independence of Leisure, with all the risks that this entails, let us make a work based on freedom and participation, which is not always located.
I know it's a past that I say this, but it's true and we have to emphasize that: 100% of the company in the hands themselves, that is, of Alexander is an incentive to work.
greetings and thanks
I share the satisfaction of being part of the team Ocio.net. Alejandro Felicides to its dedicated management and the other for their work.
greetings!
Well since my humble place in this pyramid, the truth is that it gives pleasure to work with (and for) a person with vision and your ability Alejandro. One feels, I do not know if the word, but understand the idea, something like "protected" by someone who thinks and has better vision of where the boat is going from "up there", while those of "near here" we're going commitment of the concerned newspaper.
I just wanted you to know I'm grateful because in some way, sustain the business and take such precautions, it is also fulfill a commitment with me, just one of your colleagues ...
One of my favorite phrases - header - is: "You can not direct the wind, but you can always adjust the Sails" (You can not direct the wind, but you can always adjust the sails).
More or less, there is the secret of survival in this crisis is not it? That is why I shared all this month as a nick in my msn. Thanks also to Monica and Diego, my closest contacts, to work in a climate always unbeatable.
Hug people, we continue to work
What better birthday gift that satisfaction with the achievements after a job well done.
You know that I take good note of your example as a manager.
Congratulations!
