The strange story of a scene: the Avignon Dibus Antonio de Felipe
These days I have received several emails reminding me that I promised to talk about art 1 time per week and was not satisfied. A good American friend, visiting Spain and CEO of a major multinational telecommunications company, and fan art, knowing this story urged me to tell.
It is true that the return to the frenetic activity after the summer has not left me a long time, and wanted to return after 1 week on special paint. I relaxed a little paint and write in both days of work, I want to force it to leave a gap, I think it is healthy for me ![]()
I do not particularly like pop art, frankly, but if I have a particular weakness for a pop artist, Antonio de Felipe.
Antonio Valencia is a unique artist who lives settled halfway between Madrid and Valencia hometown, and has studies (worth seeing) in both cities.
Comes from the world of advertising, it's a very creative person and his work is worth from the viewpoint of advertising creativity. It also is not whether the grace or the misfortune of being possibly the most pirated painter in the country ( not only mp3 pirating movies and also other art forms). The images of the table characteristic of Audrey Hepburn Antonio has hacked, copied and reproduced in magazines, paintings, shirts, posters, postcards and dozens of companies (many of them, complained one day) without permission or authorization. Their donuts are sold as reproductions, and original paintings on canvas reached high prices (which also are public and are on your site)

But now count the history of painting "The Dibus Avignon" I've counted on another occasion in Singapore Art, our art blog. The huge box is a great pop tribute to the "Ladies of Avignon" of such a Picasso.

The story goes back to 2002. That year in contact with Jose Maria Castellví Gallery, Barcelona, representing Antonio interested in your work. I received several Polaroid pictures of the mail a few days and one of them was "The Dibus Avignon." I jumped like a spring to see the picture, if you have something I wanted to pop-art, had to be that box!. I loved it.
I remember that back then talked and talked with the gallery and to my regret we do not reach an economic agreement. At that very moment do not know, but never forgot "my" box.
The years went by and I was more difficult than usual
(repeat pop art is not mine) to see pop works, always compared with that picture. The cumbersome even polaroid photo of a drawer in my office. I kept the years.
One day in early 2007, writing a small post on the experience and commented ArteSpain mentioned table, so surprising a few days I wrote the Antonio de Felipe, fun and surprised and asked me to visit him at his home studio.
I went there one afternoon, and Antonio, charming showed me his home and studio work, fun and original (you can view photos on their website), and at one point, I wanted to show something special. To my surprise, I was there, in your home table. I had been there, and waiting all these years.
I am among those who think not and should not tempt fate and let the opportunity twice. I thought, and even cost me a lot more expensive than I could have cost at the time (they had spent years and the price of the foam as Antonio rises every year), I got to the part.
Leverage works in my new home for this table to make a privileged space in my living room, table measured about 2 x 2 meters and it is not easy to locate:-D! And since it is in the living room of my house.

Incidentally, I have not even pulled the old photo, Polaroid, once I sent the gallery. The lovingly keep on my desk, and it seems some of the furniture and I think it will round years. And even from my brow and eyebrow Antonio to buy something else since then, the sculpture "The Coca-Cola cow" who always made me also thank you very much and I could see in his home.
(Antonio: Guardamela that also is going to come home, and I am making a hole)

Greetings.
Hello Alejandro. I hope you meet your commitment to art.
I love this artist. I love going to the Hotel Neptuno in Valencia, where they have breakfast table with Diamonds and a magnificent mural Ripollés.
It's impressive the Dibus!
Incidentally, I would like you were commenting slowly (do what you think you personally) as others Ripollés, Manolo Valdes, Agustí Puig, Joan Antoni Toledo ... And you know of other similar styles.
From the latter I have a Marilyn numbered 1976 which I love.

Recurdo day I saw the box enter the door of your house! The truth is that it is natural to view the last one is the funniest pictures I've seen.
@ Chisco, Thanks I will Chisco
Manolo Valdés is probably my favorite artist, next week will put one thing I have of him. I have a burlap and I would love to buy a sculpture.
[...] Few days in the comments on my last post I suggested Chisco art to speak of some painters Valencians including Manolo [...]
