Me gusta mucho Eduardo Naranjo . Siempre he pensado, aunque entiendo que puede sonar a barbaridad para algunos, que técnicamente es el mejor pintor del mundo, y que sus cuadros, especialmente la época de 1978 a 1985 marcan un antes y un después en la pintura realista española. Realmente, lo excepcional de Eduardo es que, te guste o no te guste el arte, te guste o no te guste la pintura , si pasas por una exposición en la que hay una obra suya te vas a parar a admirarla. Si no te gusta la pintura y no conoces la trayectoria de Tàpies, Chillida, Valdés, Barceló posiblemente ni repares en sus obras, pero si te pararás frente a los cuadros de Naranjo. Ya llevaba muchos años coleccionando su obra cuando le conocí y me invitó a su casa por primera vez. Recuerdo que me cogí la tarde libre y fui a su casa, que esta muy cerca de la mía. Pasamos una entretenida tarde charlando en el estudio anexo de su magnifica casa en La Moraleja, y él se quedó medio en estado de shock al ver que una persona de mi edad –tendría entonces 25 o 26 años- siguiera tan de cerca y conociera bien su obra, y estuviera interesado en pasar con él aquella tarde de viernes Guardo de aquellas horas un buen recuerdo, pudimos ver y hablar de muchas cosas toda la tarde, me enseñó su estudio, su casa, recuerdos, cuadros, y pude verle pintar. Un auténtico lujo. El estaba pintando un cuadro de formato grande, un enorme mar de fondo, con pintura y con materia, el cuadro tendría unos 120 centímetros de ancho. Eduardo es tan minucioso, que obras de ese tamaño no sólo son difíciles de encontrar sino que además son tanto trabajo para él que sólo puede producir tal vez 4 o 5 obras de este calibre al año. Me interesé por saber que iba a pintar en ese cuadro, sólo estaba bocetado un enorme mar azul y el me explicó su idea con detalle, y me indicó que al menos tardaría aun más de un mes en terminarlo. Uno a veces tiene su corazonada, y desde ese día, aun a medio pintar -sí, un poco surrealista la situación-, acordamos que el cuadro saldría de su estudio un mes más tarde sólo para venir a mi casa . Y así fue, y aquí está desde entonces y lo disfruto a diario, conjuntamente acordamos titularlo “ El Mar y Otros Universos ”.
Un año más tarde, sobre el original de mi cuadro, Eduardo me llamó e hizo unas fotografías para hacer unas litografías, cosa que me hizo mucha ilusión. Hoy en día aun se venden en algunas galerías esas reproducciones de la obra. La primera vez que entré en el salón de su casa pude ver un cuadro que había visto mil veces reproducido en libros, pero que nunca había podido ver en persona: “ Ensoñación con Musas ”. Se trata de una enorme obra (200x300cm!!) en la que trabajó ¡más de 2 años!, posiblemente el cuadro más representativo de su carrera. Nunca antes un cuadro me había impactado tanto, en fotografía es casi imposible apreciar la profundidad y calidad de esta obra, es muy difícil reproducir el detalle de un cuadro de 3 metros de ancho por 2 de alto.
Leí a Mónica Kreibohm en ArteSpain hace días que Eduardo ha decidido descolgar de su casa y donar su cuadro más representativo al más importante museo de arte contemporáneo en España, el Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía (MNCARS ). Es un gesto que no sólo inmortalizará su obra, sino que además hará que todo el mundo pueda disfrutarla por siglos. Por ese cuadro, sé de buena tinta que varios coleccionistas, uno de elos una persona cercana a mí, han llegado a ofrecer a Eduardo más de un millon de Euros, llegando incluso un importante empresario de Zurich a ofrecerle en Basilea un cheque en blanco para que el pusiera la cifra , y Eduardo, no sólo no lo ha vendido, no sólo lo ha descolgado de su salón (insisto que son 3 metros de ancho por 2 de alto!! , sino que nos lo ha regalado a todos.
Repasando balances de alguna de nuestras empresas estamos detectando una preocupante tendencia desde el pasado mes de Diciembre 2007, mientras que durante el 2006 y 2007 los impagos que sufríamos eran algo absolutamente residual, en los últimos meses se han disparado notablemente.
